Lala Jump Privacy Policy
In plain English
- Lala Jump listens to singing on your iPhone only. Audio is analysed in real time and is never recorded, saved, or sent anywhere.
- No Lala Jump accounts, no ads, no analytics, no third-party trackers.
- We don’t run servers for the App, and the App sends us nothing.
- Game Center is optional and run by Apple. If you’re already signed in to Game Center on your iPhone, the App connects automatically and sends your scores to Apple’s leaderboards.
This Privacy Policy describes how Lala Jump (“the App”) handles information. Lala Jump is published by Pulse and Purpose, a registered DBA of APRIL’S CHOICE LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”). This policy is specific to the Lala Jump iOS app; our general website privacy practices are described in our site Privacy Policy.
1. The short version
Lala Jump is a voice-controlled game: sing a steady note, and the higher the note, the farther your animal jumps. Everything the App does with your voice happens on the device, in the moment. We do not collect, record, upload, sell, or share audio, usage data, or personal data. There are no Lala Jump accounts, no advertising, no analytics, and no trackers. The App’s only online feature is Apple’s Game Center (see section 4).
2. The microphone
With your permission, the App listens through the microphone only while you’re playing a run or have the Practice screen open, and only while the App is on screen. It stops listening when you pause, when a run ends, when you leave the screen, or when the App goes to the background. iOS asks for permission the first time you start a run or open Practice.
The audio is analysed on the device in real time to estimate the pitch of the note being sung — that pitch number is the whole game. The audio itself is never recorded, never stored, and never leaves the device; there is no path in the App by which sound can be saved or sent. (The App does keep a few numbers it learns from your singing — see section 3 — but never the sound.)
You can turn microphone access off at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone → Lala Jump. Without it you can still open the App, see your records, and tap notes in Practice to hear them, but you can’t play a run, or sing in Practice, until access is back on.
3. What the App stores on your iPhone
The App keeps a few things on your iPhone, in its own storage:
- Your choices — the animal, the singing range, the difficulty, and whether sound effects are on.
- Your records — your recent runs (up to 60: the island count, animal, difficulty, and date of each), your best island counts, and each animal’s best on Easy and Hard.
- A few numbers the game learns while you sing, so it can adjust to your voice — for example, how steady your notes usually are. These are numbers, not sound.
- If you use Game Center: your Game Center nickname, so the result card can show it, and the player ID Apple gives you for this game, which keeps each account’s bests apart if more than one person plays on the same iPhone. Your Game Center photo is only held in memory while the App is open.
We never receive any of this — we don’t run servers for the App. But when you’re connected to Game Center, your scores are also sent to Apple (see section 4), so Apple holds them too. The App never reads them back: the records you see in the App are the ones set on this iPhone.
Settings → Clear records removes only your records — recent runs, best island counts, and each animal’s best — from this iPhone. It can’t erase scores already sent to Game Center; no app can. Deleting the App removes everything it stored on your iPhone, but not Apple’s leaderboard entries.
4. Game Center (optional, run by Apple)
Game Center is Apple’s gaming service. You can play and keep your records without it.
When the App opens, it checks with Game Center. If you’re already signed in to Game Center on your iPhone, the App connects automatically, without asking you anything. If you’re not signed in, the App never shows a sign-in screen on its own: Apple’s sign-in appears only when you tap Game Center in the App’s Settings. The Leaderboards button on the Home screen opens Apple’s leaderboards when you’re connected, and opens Settings when you’re not.
While connected, the App:
- sends each finished run’s island count to one of two leaderboards, Easy or Hard, chosen by the difficulty the run started on;
- receives your Game Center nickname and photo from Apple, to show on the result card.
The App does not read scores or bests back from Game Center.
This information is handled by Apple under Apple’s Privacy Policy and Apple’s Game Center terms; it does not come to us. Who can see your leaderboard entries is up to Apple and your Game Center settings. To stop the connection, sign out of Game Center in iOS Settings.
5. Sharing a result
The Share button on the result screen turns your result card into a picture, right on your iPhone, and hands it to the standard iOS share sheet. The card shows your island count, the animal, the difficulty and singing range, a QR code that links to Lala Jump on the App Store, and — if you’re connected to Game Center — your Game Center nickname and photo. The App uploads nothing; where the picture goes is up to you.
6. Children’s privacy
Lala Jump is built so that there is nothing for us to collect from anyone, of any age: no audio recording, no Lala Jump accounts, no ads, no analytics, no tracking, and nowhere in the App to type in personal information. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children or from anyone else.
The one online feature, Game Center, is Apple’s service. The App connects to it automatically only when the iPhone is already signed in to Game Center. Parents and guardians can manage Game Center with Apple’s Screen Time settings, or by signing out of Game Center on the device. Emails to us are written and sent from your own email app, and only if you choose to send them. If you believe a child has emailed us personal information, let us know and we will delete it.
7. What we do not do
- We do not run servers of our own, and the App sends us nothing.
- We do not use advertising identifiers, ad networks, analytics SDKs, or cross-app trackers.
- The App doesn’t ask for an account, and it doesn’t collect names, email addresses, contacts, or location. (If you choose to email us, see section 9.)
- We do not sell or share any data with anyone.
8. Purchases
Lala Jump is currently free, with no purchases inside the App. If paid content is added in the future, payment would be handled entirely by Apple through the App Store, and this policy will be updated first.
9. Optional feedback
Settings → About → Feedback → Email us opens a new message in your own email app, addressed to hello@pulseandpurpose.net. To help us fix problems, the message already includes the App’s version, your iOS version, and your iPhone’s model code (for example, “iPhone17,1” — the model, not anything unique to your phone). You can read and edit all of it, and nothing is sent unless you send it. If no email app is set up, the App shows our address so you can copy it.
If you write to us, we receive your message, your email address, and whatever the message includes, and we use them only to reply to you. We do not add you to any mailing list. Rate on the App Store opens Apple’s App Store; ratings and reviews are handled by Apple.
10. Changes to this policy
If we ever change this policy we will update the date above and post the new version at this URL. Material changes will be reflected in an app update.
